the Consciousness of Healing

What
lies beyond the consciousness of healing is a topic to ponder, not one to
debate. It is a perspective about what you believe and how you
manifest your world. It is your
choice what to believe is true, a choice that nobody can take away from you.
But once you have chosen what is true for you, will you realize that the
circumstances you will meet have been pre-arranged from your preconceived
notions of what is true and your only choice from then on is how you will react
to these circumstances? What comes
your way is predetermined from your choice, your selection —whether
intentional or not—of a state of consciousness.
The following is a dialog about choice from the broadest perspective: the
choice of what you believe to be true about the world and you. You
have but one choice to make that will determine the course of everything in your
world and your role in it:
Do you believe that your inner
conversations and mental activity are a result of your life-circumstances?
Or, do you believe that your
life-circumstances are a result of your inner conversations and mental activity?
Your
Only Choice
If
you believe the former—that your inner conversations and mental activity are a
result of your external life-circumstances—then your only choice from now on
is in how you will react to the circumstances prepared for you by the chosen
state of consciousness you occupy, and you might even be quite unaware of your
choice altogether. You will be a
“re-actor” reacting to the facts your chosen state of consciousness presents
to you. You might even feel
successful or an expert in your reactions.
Others might admire the results of your reactions, but you are still
limited by your chosen field of reaction. Since we are discussing going beyond
healing consciousness, if you are a “healer” and are comfortably identified
with that state you may save yourself the energy of any conflict that could
arise from reading further by stopping now and continuing in the world—the
consciousness—of your choosing. No
one can deny you that anyway.
If,
however, after careful consideration you decide to believe the latter—that
your life-circumstances are a result of your inner conversations and
mental activity— you can begin to understand you are God, a Creator. This will
be the premise for the rest of the dialog and by agreeing, if you notice any
arguments creeping into your mind, it may be that you have changed your mind
about the premise.
Command
and Control
So, as a creator, do you have command over your inner
conversations and mental activity? Do
you have control over the direction of your creation?
Is your habitual state of mind predominant in defining your world?
Do you run over the same old patterns of likes, dislikes, agitations,
addictions, and desires for knowledge? These
patterns are representative of the state of consciousness you have wittingly or
unwittingly chosen and are reflected in your reality, which is projected onto
the screen of space to become your experience.
There
are infinite states of consciousness and mankind is continually moving in and
out of these states, mostly unaware. You
are always in a “state” and it is useful to realize that you are separate
from the “state”. You might
condemn an unpleasant state but do not condemn the occupant of that state
because your condemnation is a sure sign that you have not yet experienced that
state, but you will. When you see
someone occupying an unpleasant state, you have the power to lift that person
out of it with your imagination. If
someone comes before you and appears to be occupying a state of disease, for
instance, what would happen if you could believe only that he or she were
already expressing health, truly seeing that individual as
healthy? What state of
consciousness would you be in if you could not see or believe anybody to be
expressing anything less than their highest expression?
At the risk of sounding biblical, this Christ-like state of consciousness
would be the ultimate expression of God—and you are that God. You can occupy that Christ-like state of consciousness.
In that state anything is possible.
It
Is Whole
Every
state of consciousness you wittingly or unwittingly choose to occupy comes
complete with everything it requires for its fulfillment.
You can try in vain, but you cannot add to or subtract from it.
It is whole. The universe will provide infinite resources to the
fulfillment of the state. If you
are in the state of “healer”, for example, you must believe and consent to
be as true that you need an abundance of people who need healing for you to have
an abundant practice. Now, you may
say that it is an indisputable fact that there are people who need healing.
And you would be right! The
universe has expressed them to complete the state of “healer” occupied by
you (and others, so if you are a healer do not take this personally).
Their expression
of un-health is a result of the impression
on the consciousness of the world made
by the beliefs inherent of that state. But
be careful, the “facts” will not stop there.
The state of un-health is fed and strengthened by so-called “facts”
from people in large institutions of healing, the search for remedies, drugs for
every form of relief and treatment, specialized techniques, spiritual practices,
holistic modalities, etc. All were
expressed from the same state, from the impression made on the consciousness of
the world by the belief in the sick and the need to help them.
The size and scope of this system of consciousness permeates all of
mankind and exponentially compounds the so-called “facts”, which are only a
result of occupying a state.
Paradigm
of Healing
We
are being asked at this time in history to question the “facts”, to question
the entire paradigm of healing. Is
it possible to believe differently? Is
it possible for mankind—not just a few people—to occupy a new state of
consciousness not defined by the “facts” created by the old paradigm?
To
do this would require meeting the present moment as a God/Creator.
But if we drag the past along with us into the present moment of
creating, will we not be recreating the past?
It is not possible to separate ourselves form the past, or from the
future for that matter. Past,
present and future exist together as a whole, as one continuum held together
with the glue of a certain chosen state of consciousness.
If this is true we could be doomed to repeating only behaviors based on
past experience, except for the idea that we are Gods and Creators able to move
from one state of consciousness to another.
But again, how do we create something that is not contaminated with the
past? If we continue to visit the
past in our minds, even to challenge or verify our beliefs about it, are we not
watering the garden of the past, giving it our attention thus giving life to
what we do not want by germinating the seeds of the past?
Have
you ever asked yourself why the past is so important to you?
What would your life be like if you had no past?
Who would you be? Now we are
not talking about remembering things like how to drive a car, how to chew food,
how to read, or anything practical for survival.
We are concerned here only with the concepts of events… and reactions
to them.
“Let
the dead bury the dead”
Why
is it so important that certain historical figures, that we give great
importance to, are/were real? What would it mean if they weren’t? Could we
still learn from the story? What would we learn? What learning would be
different from believing these past figures to be real?
Most
of us have a visceral notion about reality that says something is real if you
can touch it, if you can contact it with your senses in some way.
But isn’t it interesting that we do not apply this to the past? You can’t touch the past.
It is not in front of you right now, but we totally believe it thus
giving it reality and continuity into the present, and future.
When you meet the present moment with this belief in the past it infects
your reality with it. When you react to the present situation with the believed-in
past, you are sowing seeds for future experiences.
“As
you sow a reaction, you reap an act.” As
Gods and Creators, you are creating your world from the inside with your beliefs
and mental activity. So it is, that
as you habitually meet the present with the past, the past is recreated,
reincarnated. Is this the Karmic
wheel that is spoken of? Is Karma
just a kind of spiritual accounting system and morality balance sheet, tying us,
as the past can, to an endless cycle of preconditioned future lifetimes? After all, if this were true, how many innumerable, infinite
lifetimes would an incarnation such as Hitler be damned to?
If you believe Karma is about balancing a scale of “justice”, who
decides what is just? God?
But how quickly we forget that we are that God.
And, more importantly, how does believing in a concept like Karma affect
your creation—your reality—as you drag it along with you into the present
and plant the seeds of the future? Could
it be that a belief such as this anchors you to the past through a system that
binds you only to a concept, an idea called the past?
And how do you ever escape from the continuous cycle? Work out all your Karma from your past? Is that possible? The
evidence (continued wars, violence, hatred, etc.) would show it has not worked
for thousands of years.
Change
Your State
So
how do you change your state of consciousness?
Do you need more time? Will
you be a better person tomorrow? Will
you become healthy sometime in the future, after some process?
Will you achieve enlightenment or Christ-consciousness if you follow a
certain system or some program, and then you will find salvation?
Is the energy and consciousness of “becoming” the answer to anything?
Or is “becoming” a self-perpetuating state that endlessly continues?
How
do you stop it?…Just drop it. Right
now! You do not “achieve”
enlightenment or “attain” Christ consciousness.
You express it. So
what is stopping you from expressing it now?
Could it be this simple? Just
dropping your attachments to these ideas and starting to express something else?
Or are you too identified with them?
Who would you be if you didn’t have the so-called security of a belief
system? A belief in the continuity
of what you believe yourself to be? Don’t
worry, it is a historically habitual reaction to disregard this type of inquiry
for the comfort and safety of what you think you know and who you think you are:
all the “my” and “mine” measurements of attachment.
And there is nothing wrong with that.
But if you have made it this far your inner self might be compelling you
to find something beyond the superficial world of ideas and concepts.
So,
is it necessary to measure yourself against the past to avoid making the same
mistakes again? Or is the act of
measuring against the past keeping the past alive and cementing you to it? If so, then the intellect—which is bound to the convenience
of external causes and effects—will determine unlimited solutions of ever
increasing complexity for what is essentially created by your choice of
consciousness.
Is
it possible to change the past? If
the past exists only as ideas and images, what purpose does it serve?
Do we need to look to the past to learn from it?
If the present has been created form the past, can we simply learn the
same thing from careful observation of the present? If we find that we are desirous of a different “present”,
can we bring about the radical change in our consciousness that is required to
realize it? And if we are
successful with this movement to a new state of consciousness, and our present
situation changes as a result, what would our past look like from that vantage
point?
For
instance, when you were a child you might have witnessed and event that
frightened you or caused you pain of some kind.
Since you have grown up and changed consciousness, you look back at the
event and no longer feel frightened or feel the pain.
So, you could say that the past has changed a little.
But if the past can change a little, that means the past is changeable,
and therefore all the past is changeable.
But how can you intentionally change the past?
Is changing your state of consciousness enough? And how do you do that?
Reflecting
You
First,
you must begin to be aware of the state of consciousness you are occupying right
now. Do this by careful
observation. Everything that you
experience today is reflecting you. That’s
right, even the nasty boss, the angry customer, or the dispassionate lover is
reflecting only what you are believing and consenting to as true. Next, you must desire something different.
But be careful. If you drag the past along things might just appear to be
different, not actually so. Use
your imagination and be like a child creating endless possibilities.
Then, practice being in the consciousness of your desired state until it
feels real to you. You must deny
what your senses are telling you, which is easiest done in a sleep-like,
meditative state. What mental
activity and inner conversations does a healthy person have all day? Can you
match yours to fit no matter what your senses are telling you? If it is health
you desire, but you are not sure how to proceed then pretend you are healthy
over and over until it feels real and natural.
“Physician,
heal thyself!”
This
statement was never meant to be a finger-pointing accusation or imply there is
something wrong with physicians; it is a warning.
The mystic interprets all stories of scripture as contemporary, as
immediate truth. It is about you,
right now. The healer consciousness
comes with the landmines of self-serving concepts that make us feel good like
charity, morality, and service. There
is nothing inherently wrong with these, but the incredibly compelling and
beautiful feeling involved in healing someone might unwittingly end up deepening
the egoic sense of self as the healer, thus cementing more “facts” to
solidify the state. The warning is
to be aware that sickness is an integral part of the consciousness of
“healer”. Most people occupying
the state of “healer” will tell you of the peculiarity of their patients
coming to them with problems that are eerily similar to their own life
challenges at that time. The
ancient Hawaiians practiced a healing art called Ho’oponopono.
There are a few people practicing something similar today.
In essence, when a patient comes in for treatment, the practitioner
listens carefully to the patient describe the problem.
Then, the practitioner meditates on what needs to be healed inside of
himself or herself to solve the patient’s problem.
How many of us would sign up for that job?
The
world is your inner self, pushed outward. Your
“self” is an amazing and complicated jumble of identifications, joys sorrow,
comforts, hurts, conflicts, successes, and failures.
Is there a way to start expressing a consciousness that sees only health?
Is there way that exalts people to their highest state, their highest
expression? There is an infinite
number of “facts” at hand to disclaim the possibility of expressing
total-health consciousness—indeed, the complete exaltation of everyone’s
highest potential—all the time. Millions
of people are invested in these “facts”, which are the result of
a state of consciousness, not the cause.
Fortunes
of People
So,
you can see that the facts created from the current consciousness seem to be an
obstacle to a new consciousness of health and wellbeing.
But as Winston Churchill said during Europe’s darkest hours of WWII,
“It is the mood which determines the fortunes of people, rather that the
fortunes that determine the mood.” This
powerful statement of consciousness captured the mood of freedom and success for
the British people and the world, proving more powerful that the Nazis.
Can
we capture the mood of a world exalted to its highest state? A world that is not
addicted to the “facts”? Can
you start with yourself? To quote
another visionary Briton, William Blake said, “Man
should not stay a man, His aim should higher be, For Gods will only Gods accept
as company.” What would the feeling be like
if you were expressing your ideal? What
is the feeling of your wish fulfilled? Will
you choose to overcome the flood of facts denying your ideal?
Can you find your savior by letting go of the “facts” even if your
whole life is built around them? Is there a deeper part of us that is connected
to the ultimate expression of unconditional love that is not reflexively bound
to the preconditioned facts? Will
we join ourselves to the divine within each of us and thus discover among us we
are all God, the Creator, evermore and always in a state of perfection?

the pure, all things are pure”
